As Bush is totally incompetent in governing a country and keeping the citizen out of harm's way, he concentrates on easy issues to assert his power. And he has appointed his friends who paid for his election to help him with it. Like this:
Reuters: "A federal appeals court ruled on Friday that U.S. President George W. Bush has the power to detain Jose Padilla, a U.S. citizen who has been held for more than three years as a suspected enemy combatant without any charges being brought against him."

Bush also enjoys a good illegal execution. After all, he lives in the lynching belt (which happens to be the bible belt as well).
IACenter: "In a matter of days, on September 14, 2005, Frances Newton, AN INNOCENT WOMAN, is scheduled to be executed by the state of Texas. If the jury had known the facts that are presently known, they would not have found Frances guilty nor given her the death sentence. The dubious motive, unrealistic timeline, the police's refusal to follow important leads, and most of all, her incompetent counsel, all point to the compelling evidence that proves Frances Newton is innocent."

The lawlessness that reigns in Iraq is endemic to the US too.
WashingtonPost: "Employees of private security firms are immune from prosecution in Iraq, under an order adopted into law last year by Iraq's interim government. The most severe punishment that can be applied to them is revocation of their license and dismissal from their job, U.S. officials said. Their heavy presence stems in large part from the Pentagon's attempts to keep troop numbers down by privatizing jobs that would once have been performed by American forces."

Yahoo: "Companies with ties to the Bush White House and the former head of FEMA are clinching some of the administration's first disaster relief and reconstruction contracts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina."
"At least two major corporate clients of lobbyist Joe Allbaugh, President George W. Bush's former campaign manager and a former head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, have already been tapped to start recovery work along the battered Gulf Coast.
One is Shaw Group Inc. and the other is Halliburton Co. subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root. Vice President Dick Cheney is a former head of Halliburton.
Bechtel National Inc., a unit of San Francisco-based Bechtel Corp., has also been selected by FEMA to provide short-term housing for people displaced by the hurricane. Bush named Bechtel's CEO to his Export Council and put the former CEO of Bechtel Energy in charge of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation."
George Bush is running the US for the benefit of companies like Halliburton, Kellogg Brown and Root and Bechtel. He has no responsibility whatsoever towards the people of the United States.

Homeland Security did not fire Michael Brown, they just recalled him. Brown is one of the thugs in the Bush mafia:
"Michael Brown, the embattled head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, approved payments in excess of $31 million in taxpayer money to thousands of Florida residents who were unaffected by Hurricane Frances and three other hurricanes last year in an effort to help President Bush win a majority of votes in that state during his reelection campaign, according to published reports."

Naomi Klein: "On September 4, six days after Katrina hit, I saw the first glimmer of hope. 'The people of New Orleans will not go quietly into the night, scattering across this country to become homeless in countless other cities while federal relief funds are funnelled into rebuilding casinos, hotels, chemical plants. We will not stand idly by while this disaster is used as an opportunity to replace our homes with newly built mansions and condos in a gentrified New Orleans.'
The statement came from Community Labor United, a coalition of low-income groups in New Orleans. It went on to demand that a committee made up of evacuees 'oversee Fema, the Red Cross and other organisations collecting resources on behalf of our people. We are calling for evacuees from our community to actively participate in the rebuilding of New Orleans.'"
As Naomi Klein points out, it won't work this way, even when it is the best solution, as people would get jobs in reconstructing their own city, they would feel they are doing something constructive themselves. But the neocons don't want the people to struggle out of poverty, they want to see profits.

It is clear that foreign free aid is being refused for the sole reason that corporations like Halliburton then wouldn't be able to sell the same stuff for hard currency, money that is not coming from the government but from the American taxpayer.
Yahoo: "A German military plane carrying 15 tons of military rations for survivors of Hurricane Katrina was sent back by U.S. authorities, officials said Saturday."

America is in the hands of callous neocon thugs. The only reason Bush is still in power is the support he gets from neocon corporations. It's the rule of the Mob.
