A picture named BushResigns.jpg The Clinton administration was judged by different standards than the Bush administration. Bush gets away with murder.
We can only dream about Bush resigning. Bush is the worst president America ever had. He has taken the blame for federal failure. If he really knew what he was talking about, he would resign. The problem is, he thinks reality is put right by merely signing a document or saying something assuring.

Hurricane Katrina has brought to the open the worst of America, but also the best.
There is something completely rotten in the minds of right-wing America:
Mark Bernstein: "Now on view at the Baptist church in Medford, there's a charming sign that blames all those nasty sinners in New Orleans for calling down God's Judgment on their heads."

And George is so pleased with himself because he signed the emergency declarations before the storm hit. "Most emergencies - the President signs after the storm has hits." But that is where George's buck stops.

A large part of the 'relief' effort goes to patrolling New Orleans, by mercenary troops who are ordered to shoot at 'looters' and 'thugs'.
Jake Savin: "In the days following Hurricane Katrina, Denise Moore was trapped in the New Orleans Convention Center, with her mom, her niece and her niece's two-year-old daughter. There she witnessed acts of surprising humanity by armed thugs, taking charge and doing good.
Hearing Moore's story literally brought tears to my eyes. She described how the so-called 'gangs of armed thugs' stole juice for the children and made sure that nobody besides them was armed, how they protected people trapped in grave circumstances from getting out of control and hurting anyone, especially the old and young, and how they stole yellow raincoats to use for makeshift uniforms, so that they could keep track of each other.
All this while the 'officials' at the scene made the survivors line up over and over again for busses which would never come, under 100-plus-degree sunlight, and with little or no regard for age or infirmity.
What does it say when thugs and gang members did more to organize relief for the people trapped for days in the New Orleans Convention Center, than FEMA or anyone else in government, local or otherwise?"

And the federal stupidity and incompetence continue unabated.
TheRawStory: "The Federal Emergency Management Agency has hired Kenyon International to set up a mobile morgue for handling bodies in Baton Rouge, Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina, RAW STORY has learned.
Kenyon is a subsidiary of Service Corporation International (SCI), a scandal-ridden Texas-based company operated by a friend of the Bush family. Recently, SCI subsidiaries have been implicated in illegally discarding and desecrating corpses."

FEMA doesn't have a mailbox and their website blocks access to Firefox, Mac and Linux users (so you'll have to use a browser - like Opera - that can identify itself as Internet Explorer).

AmericaBlog: "Guess who Bush just appointed as the acting head of FEMA? Yes, you guessed it. The idiot who caused the 'duct tape' scare two years ago.
Yes, David Paulison, a top official in Homeland Security, has just been appointed by Bush as the acting new head of FEMA."
What a change, from Michael 'Drownie' Brown to Paul 'Duckie' Paulison.
