NetherWorld: "About 100 people turned up at Parliament Square, each with their own particular issue to protest about, and there were some very amusing issues too. Some memorable ones were: the planetary status of Pluto, free chocolate for pensioners and calls for the exiling of Robbie Williams. My protest against the surveillance state was somewhat less surreal, but in keeping with the spirit of the event I did include my objection to microchips on wheelie bins (I'm not kidding)."

But Tony Blair has a new mug.
TimesOnline: "Pictures of Tony Blair's 'Anthony' cup have circled the globe and been interpreted variously as a sign of vanity, evidence of megalomania or an act of desperation.
The £4.99 mug reveals that the Prime Minister and his namesakes are the 'man who's in charge, [while] others follow your lead'."

In a bid to outdo Margaret Thatcher, Blair wants another 12 months. But he may follow the Iron Lady on the way out.
BlairWatch: "His Imperial Majesty has spoken: It's New Labour or Bust."
"Labour will lose the next election if it isn't brave enough to ditch Blair now."
Independent: "An ally of Gordon Brown has accused Tony Blair of 'bleeding the Labour Party at its heart' by clinging on to power and urged him to announce when he will quit."

Actually, Blair is on a 9/11 collision course. You see, he is not a socialist, he is a neocon and if he doesn't succeed in turning Labour into a neocon party, he'll blow it up, deliberately. Blair is on a one-way destruction track. He himself has nothing to lose.

ICH: "Tomorrow's potential troublemakers can be identified even before they are born, Tony Blair has suggested."

BBC: "Police in the UK are keeping watch on 'thousands of people' who may be involved in terrorism, Scotland Yard's head of counter-terrorism says."
'Who may be', yes, indeed, in the minds of paranoiac plutocrats. The pathologically aggressive, the warmongers are now in power and free to do as they like.

Slowly but surely fascism is creeping up on us. History is repeating itself.
AlterNet: "Mr. Rumsfeld's remarkable speech to the American Legion demands the deep analysis - and the sober contemplation - of every American.
In a small irony, however, Mr. Rumsfeld's speechwriter was adroit in invoking the memory of the appeasement of the Nazis. For in their time, there was another government faced with true peril - with a growing evil - powerful and remorseless.
That government, like Mr. Rumsfeld's, had a monopoly on all the facts. It, too, had the 'secret information'. It alone had the true picture of the threat. It too dismissed and insulted its critics in terms like Mr. Rumsfeld's - questioning their intellect and their morality.
Dissent and disagreement with government is the life's blood of human freedom; and not merely because it is the first roadblock against the kind of tyranny the men Mr. Rumsfeld likes to think of as 'his' troops still fight, this very evening, in Iraq."
