Denial by David Vegezzi.
11:26:53 AM

Our democracy and rule of law are systematically broken down by the neocon crooks in power.

ACLU: "The American Civil Liberties Union today strongly rebuked the Senate Judiciary Committee for adopting legislation that approves warrantless spying on Americans by the National Security Agency. The move follows a recent court decision finding the surveillance both illegal and unconstitutional. The Bush administration has thus far stonewalled efforts by the committee to conduct meaningful oversight over the program."

ArsTechnica: "The Senate Judiciary Committee has approved two competing bills designed to overhaul electronic surveillance laws and address the legal ambiguity of the NSA's wiretap program. One of those bills, the National Security Surveillance Act (S.B. 2453), would legitimize the NSA's controversial domestic surveillance activity, and thwart current efforts by the EFF and ACLU to challenge the legality of the program in court."

Civil rights and human rights are in danger, and the authority of international humanitarian and criminal law is not held in high esteem.

EUObserver: "EU foreign ministers have failed to agree on an official statement on alleged secret CIA jails and instead allowed the Finnish EU presidency to read out a 'press line' with hardly any status.
Dutch foreign minister Bernard Bot, supported by his Belgian, Luxembourg and Spanish counterparts, had proposed a common EU declaration on alleged illegal activities by the CIA - the US intelligence agency - at a foreign ministers meeting in Brussels on Friday.
But ministers finally agreed only on a move which has the lowest diplomatic status possible at EU foreign ministers meetings - a 'press line' not forming part of the official conclusions and not even being an official declaration."
Shame on Europe! Some European countries, like Poland and Rumania, are accused of harbouring torture camps.
