We Had A Plan?
While you're not likely to ever hear Bush admit that he has made mistakes with the War on Iraq, that doesn't mean that he won't shove some other lackeys out onto the stage of public opinion to mumble out a "Ummm, yeah....we sure blew that one."
Yesterday for instance one of the fellows who really pushed hard for the war (the happy looking guy on the left) admitted in front of a Senate committee that the administration had made some serious miscalculations. The way Deputy Defense Secretary Paul D. Wolfowitz put it:
"We had a plan that anticipated, I think, that we could proceed with an occupation regime for much longer than it turned out the Iraqis would have patience for. We had a plan that assumed we'd have basically more stable security conditions than we've encountered."
Notice how he says, "We had a plan." Does that mean there's a new plan? If so, what is it? When did that new plan go into effect? Is that new plan responsible for all the recent success in Iraq?
Bush's comment on the subject yesterday was that Iraq is "approaching a crucial moment." Didn't say what that moment was, though. Something tells me it might include us avoiding the Door of World Opinion hitting us on our way out.
