Revisiting The Rhine
Took Marcela on a four hour cruise up and down the Rhine river this afternoon. Went better weather-wise than it did with my mother a few weeks ago. Then it was cold and rainy. Today it was hot and mostly clear, though rain clouds did start to roll in just when the boat ride was about to end.
The cruise itself takes you up the Rhine from the town we boarded, Bingen, to the town of St. Goar two hours away. The boat then turns around and passes by the same towns and castles again, just in case you didn't get enough of them the first time.
Along the way, we figured out which hotel we'd like to stay in if we ever decide to book a room right along the Rhine. The Krone is billed as one of the oldest hotels in Germany. Certainly looks the part.
Other than that, we just sat back and enjoyed the ride -- sometimes taking pictures of castles way up on the hills, or pictures of each other with the amazing scenery passing in the background.
Overall, just a nice way to spend the afternoon. For the money (about $15 apiece), you can't buy better views.
