I went to the Avon Walk intro meeting and when I asked the question what if you can't raise the 1800.00 for the walk, I didn't feel the love. Maybe to all the women in that room and the speaker, 1800.00 isn't alot of money but for me, that's alot of money to ask other people for, even if I only asked 9 people for a 200.00 donation each, I still feel like that's alot of money and for something I'm not 100% positive I can even do, I don't even want to ask for it. Its a big fundraising tactic - people really don't even need to walk, you still have to raise the 1800.00 and if you don't raise it all, you don't get to walk in the Avon Walk, so you basically did a bunch of fundraising for Avon Breast Cancer research and don't get to walk or participate if you don't raise the whole 1800.00 and you don't get that money back and you can't give it back to your donors, so what's the point exactly? I totally did not feel the love.
I think if my friend wants to do a walk of some sort, lets start with the Bay to Breakers or something smaller. I've done the Bay to Breakers before reluntancly (sp?) and I know I can walk 8 miles but 39 miles is pushing it.
And if anyone feels like donating - donate to a cause you feel good about, something you feel the love for.
