Tea - an observation
I don't think tea tastes very good out of those vacuum insulated stainless steel travel mugs. I find that green tea tastes metallic in them. Those mugs are fine for coffee, and maybe even certain black teas, but the more delicate flavor of green or herb teas gets ruined. Would be nice to find a nice, unbreakable non-steel alternative for those occasions where a lot of tea needs to be ingested.

Saturday
Music: silence
Mood: tired and pleased
A long 10 hour session mixing the new album. At the end I burned three copies for friends, to get their opinions. Now, it's time to make notes and make last changes to the mix...luckily that is easy nowadays since the computer recalls everything. I just go in and tweak this or that and print a new mix. But - I miss playing guitar after a long day of fiddling with knobs! This is shaping up to be a fine album. It is not hard to make the best sounding recording so far, as the equipment keeps getting a lot better every couple of years. I also think that my guitar came up with some good stuff - and Jon created some killer bass lines for "La Semana".

Anyway, I think this album will make top three or four of my favorites, next to "The Hours between Night + Day" and "Opium" and it really does sound quite a bit better than those two...

Kinda wishing I had a Prius. - Editor OPEC cuts output; gas may hit $2. OPEC agreed yesterday to cut its oil production by 4 percent, a move that energy-industry observers say could increase average U.S. gasoline prices beyond the $2 mark this summer.

I still love my new Prius. I have driven 250 miles and still have half a tank of gasoline. I showed Jon Gagan the car on Thursday after our racquetball game and he agrees, an acoustic bass could be transported in this car. It's amazing how big this small car is on the inside!

In my photoblog, I document the construction of a traditional Tibetan Sand Mandala built by two visiting Tibetan Buddhist Monks in my university. This truly fascinating and intricate piece of artwork is built slowly using just a few grains of sand at a time. Once the Mandala is completed it is deconstructed and deposited into a body of water, to symbolize the Buddhist belief of nonattachment.
