There is about a week left to enter the Coral Park Buddy Raffle. Now is your chance to win Ottmar Liebert's guitar and to support the Bonaire National Marine Park. Tickets are only $10.00 and will make a difference in saving coral reefs.

To all those who have entered the raffle already, thank you! To those who haven't entered yet, please consider it! We can really make a difference with your support.

I am getting all nostalgic here. My brother gave me that guitar for christmas in 1982 or 1983. I have no other guitar that I have held onto for more than 20 years! This guitar was used on "The Hours between Night + Day" and "Opium"....

Recently we've seen several studies of the impact of filesharing on CD sales. We have enough data now to draw some (very) preliminary conclusions, assuming the studies are correct. Despite the apparent contradictions between the various studies, I think there is a plausible theory that can explain them all – a Grand Unified Theory of Filesharing.
Free-riders and Samplers....I think there is a T-shirt in this article somewhere....
Thanks Ole!

A very nice Italian wine under 20 bucks - I have seen for as low as $15.29. The Palazzo della Torre is a delicious blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Sangiovese grapes. Beautiful dark color.

La Semana
Music: silence
Mood: relaxed
Today I sent all of the artwork, notes, and credits to the nice people @ EPOS who design my SSRI CDs. The songs, 12 for the Digi-Pack and 13 for the Limited Edition, are mixed, mastered and sequenced. I took an hour walk through Santa Fe and feel renewed.

I read this on Slashdot:
Music: La Semana - sounds finished to me at last....
Mood: serene
$.50 a track, 192kbit stereo is what it'll take to get me to buy my music. Until then I'll just drive around and listen to the dozen used CDs I bought five years ago. $1 a track is already too expensive for most of the music out there.
This bonehead can't love music if he only has a dozen CDs he bought 5 years ago. I have at least 1,500 CDs. On the other hand if this opinion is in the majority, I will stop releasing music for the public. Isn't there a scene in Ayn Rand's book Fountainhead where an architect refuses to design...

$.50/track...that would be only $5-6 per album...to me that amount is below the line where it is worth the effort and time and sweat and emotion to record music.

We live in strange times, where the government and seeminlgy more and more of the public have no or little respect for the arts. This can only be a very bad omen for society. Without the Arts any society is sure to parish. Artists are like the canaries in the mine shaft...an early warning system...a starting point for dialog...a spring board for discovery...first you have to imagine it and only then can you research it!
"Leonardo da Vinci's complex sequential drawings, of pigeon wings fluttering in flight and of patterns made by fast-flowing water, anticipated time-lapse photography by 300 years. Surrealist painters' space-time distortions seemingly foreshadowed Einstein's theory of relativity." - from a review of the book Art & Physics by Leonard Shlain
I would also bet that many a teenager was inspired to become a scientist not be reading scientific text books, but by reading fiction...
Music's exclusive function is to structure the flow of time and keep order in it. - Igor Stravinsky
Visual art is an exploration of space; music is the art of the permutation of time. - Leonard Shlain
Without music, life would be a mistake.- Friedrich Nietzsche
