Owners of hybrid vehicles would be allowed to use carpool lanes -- even when cruising the California freeways alone -- under a bill that passed a key Assembly committee on Monday.

It would allow drivers of a new generation of hybrid vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius and some versions of the Honda Civic -- which get 45 miles per gallon or better -- access to so-called high-occupancy vehicle lanes even if they are not carrying the requisite number of passengers, usually two or three. Hybrid car drivers would have to obtain a decal from the state Department of Motor Vehicles to use the lanes.
That's a good start...next I want special parking privileges! And then I think Hybrid cars should not have to pay tolls...But seriously, I think this new law is a great incentive, especially if you battle traffic in Cali4nia!
Thanks David!

Bystanders rated mobile-phone conversations as dramatically more noticeable, intrusive, and annoying than conversations conducted face-to-face. While volume was an issue, hearing only half a discussion also seemed to up the irritation factor.

Isn't that interesting! Only hearing half of a conversation is more annoying...I wonder whether it plays into some basic human fears, not to be able to hear the other half of the conversation, even if we are not listening...
