Awwwwwww....

This is a baby chiru, a Tibetan antelope, whose wool is used to make shahtoosh scarves. These darling little ungulates are endangered because the only way to collect their soft, downy undercoats is to kill them and pluck their fleece. (Shahtoosh, btw, is illegal in this country.) Rag trade mags, like Harper's Bazaar, have touted shahtoosh for its exquisite softness, softer even than cashmere, and a shahtoosh shawl can command as much as $15,000. Who needs shahtoosh when you can shave a renewable yak?
