Blog running

And poaching: This week I've sunk to new levels of blog sloth; all I can muster are little whiffs and piffles blown in the direction of other blogs. (Recognize stall tactics when you see them? We're doing top secret work at Nake-id Knits. Stay tuned for the big reveal next week. But in the meantime, you're stuck with me.)

Bonne Marie's implemented a cool feature--ChicKnits Around the ring in five cups of coffee or less--which sent me scrambling for the buttons on the Knitbloggers Webring. Did you know there are more than 400 member sites? Knock me over with a feather. So I started touring. It's the perfect Pavlovian reward. Write a sentence. Read a blog. Write another sentence. Read another blog. Write a paragraph. Read 10 blogs.

Though generally amazed by the quality--unlike chihuahua bloggers, knit bloggers are remarkably erudite--some things will send me screaming from a site. Do you find that too?

Music. Not OK. (The chihuahua folks are nuts about music, that and little animated chihuahuas that trail your cursor.) Centered copy. It's not poetry, people. Long line lengths. Color me guilty.

Most knitting blogs are amazing. Sparkly writing. Good design. Ambitious knitting. To wit, have you noticed how knit-a-longs have proliferated? Lace Along. Linen-Drape Along. Marilyn Along (another Hollywood icon heard from). The Azkaban Knitalong. The 6 Sockalong. The Tea Party. Spring Fling. Anouk Along. Bottoms Up. Broadripple. Charlotte's Web. Not to mention old favorties like the Must-Have Cardie. Rogue. Banff. Or the unfortunate Pant-a-Long.

Well, there are so many great blogs. I don't know where to begin. So I'll stop. And list some tomorrow.

Daily rant: Today Nake-id Knits honors the singer formerly-known-as Madonna. Esther nee Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Penn Richie has claimed the Hebrew name as a way to attach herself to a different energy. Esther is the name her Kabbalah teachers use. (Yeah, they used to call me Tanyetchka in Russian class too, but I didn't change my handle.)
