Iraq may be on the edge but France has hit rock bottom abyss. Meanwhile, Maggie Pernot wrote the other day to chide me for my continued defense of the Rumsfeld Death Camps at Guantanamo. The prisoners, she complains, are "kept in tiny, chainlink outdoor cages where they were likely to be rained... [Zogby Blog]
In honor of all the French who have died in the last days I will refrain from including my usual F the French picture this one time. (LP)

Blaming Arnie. This is low even for someone like Diane Feinstein.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein yesterday tore into Arnold Schwarzenegger's movies yesterday, panning the shoot-'em-up flicks for bringing bloodshed to California streets. Feinstein came to the aid of her fellow Democrat, embattled Gov. Gray Davis, with a blistering thumbs-down review of Schwarzenegger's popular movies — which frequently show... I hate getting caught defending the Liberal Arnie but Lee is right, this is low even for DiFi. Are the libs really that afraid of losing another state seat that they have to be this pathetic? (LP)

Anti Virus II. I just checked my email, and I have received 152 of the virus emails since 8:00 this morning. If you use Windows, make sure you update your system and run a virus checker on it. Update: Just checked it again (6:00 PST) and there were almost 300 messages, and 99% of them were from the virus. A number of them were from some big name bloggers, too, but they shall remain nameless. :) Seriously, if you use Windows and haven't updated your system and... [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]
You know your a real nobody in the blogging world when you don't get a single virus sent to you. If you don't want to name the BIG NAME bloggers how about us little and no name bloggers? You could list our blog url's and we would all be happier than pigs in sh_t!!!!!! If you will I'll go turn off my anti-virus right now. Crap - forgot I'm using Mozilla Mail now. Thats ok - for you I could fire up the old OE! (LP)

Just fooling around. By the way for those of you who look here daily (three of you now!) I will be gone to Redlands all day tomorrow. Going to the wifes cousins to check out an old 400 meg machine someone gave her. Will be back late tomorrow night.
Signed up with GoToMyPC today so I can still use my machine from there. I will try to post here just to see what happens. Seems to work great as long as there is a high speed connection on both ends. I tried it with dial-up and it is very slow. With broadband there is about a one second delay. Would be great for showing someone far away how to do something on the computer. Pictures do not look good because of the extreme compression required to keep the frame rate up. You know how pictures look in 256 colors? Only other thing I didn't like was that someone watching you remotely cannot see your cursor movements. You would also need to use it a lot to justify the 15 to 20 bucks a month. If you haven't done so already, check it out. The first hour is free. (LP)

Canada Joins the War. Believe it or not, Canada might not be functionally useless after all.
Canadian police arrested 19 men last week in a case that, according to court documents obtained by a newspaper, has eerie parallels to the preparations for the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. Royal Canadian Mounted Police spokeswoman Michele Paradis on Friday confirmed the arrests... [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]

Guardian: Everything is Israel's Fault. I never read Britain' Guardian any more, because I know what I'm going to find there; unrestrained antisemitism, backwards Bizarro-world morality, and generally loathsome blame-the-victim foulness. Why oh why did ... [little green footballs]

A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced the altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted. "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The woman replied, "You are in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above the ground. You are between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."
"You must be a Republican," said the balloonist. I am," said the woman. "How did you know?" "Well," answered the balloonist, "Everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help so far."
The woman below responded. "You must be a Democrat." "I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"
Well," said the woman, "You don't know where you are or where you are going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my fault."

"Barf Bag Ready? Reviewing the Gray Davis Legacy" (chronwatch.com)
Hyper-liberal Assemblywoman Jackie Goldberg (D-Los Angeles) said, ''Since this is going to be a crisis, the crisis could be this year. No one's running (for re-election). And maybe you end up better off than you would have, and maybe you don't. But what you do is you show people that you can't get to this without a 55 percent vote.'' Fellow Democrat Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles) said, ''If you don't have a budget, it helps Democrats. If you don't have a budget, it helps Democrats on the 55 percent (initiative). The folks that are heading up the anti-recall effort think if you don't have the budget, it helps Democrats in the recall effort.'' When a staffer burst in to inform the lawmakers about their ''hot'' mike, Goldberg said, ''Oh, (expletive) (expletive).''

Phase Three? The enemy is growing desperate. (National Review)
Contrary to the latest round of punditry, the liberation of Iraq did not stir up a hornet's nest nor create ex nihilo these terrible alliances. No, they are natural expressions of the hatred manifested on 9/11 that will continue until either we or they are defeated.
