Linkages. I noticed The Lopsided Poopdeck in my Technorati listing while I was working on the last post. My first reaction was concern that someone was reproducing my site verbatim, as that's how it appears. As it turns out, the methodology over their is to repro verbatim either all or large portions of posts from other blogs, not just mine, and then comment about most, but not all, of them. It's a somewhat different way of doing things, but I love the name and it seems pretty decent. Anything... [Jay Solo's Verbosity]
Hey! I've been noticed by the Blogsphere. Is that what they call it? Thanks for the mention Jay. I would never steal outright from other bloggers although I have heard of that happening. Sounds weird to me. Do they think they won't get caught? I might forget to give proper credit in my haste but that would be the rare exception. In fact right now I have to haste myself off to work. Thanks again. (LP)
P.S. Everyone be sure to check out Jay's blog. It leans to the RIGHT so has the LP seal of approval. (LP)

HEY FRANCE, COME GET YOUR STATUE . I'm sick of France. I'm sick of the mouth-breathing, deodorant-abhorring, haughty French who can't defend themselves, haven't made a significant contribution to culture, science or civilization in over a hundred years, and who claim to love democracy but secretly worship... The Left Must Lie to Win the Presidency. No admitted leftist has won the US Presidency since 1976, over 27 years ago. You might say that Clinton was a lefty and won, but you would be wrong. Clinton made sure that he sounded like the most conservative candidate... [Zogby Blog]

Not A Majority. Christ, people in the media are dumber than sh-t.
The majority of American voters would not like to see President Bush re-elected to another term according to a poll by Newsweek magazine. The survey released Saturday showed that 49 percent of registered voters would not back the president for a second term if the vote were held now. Forty-four percent would support Mr. Bush's re-election. 49% represents a majority now? Admittedly my math skills are not superb, but I believe that 51% is larger than 49%. Now, if they had said a plurality of voters do not want to see Bush re-elected that would be correct, but I doubt most of those people would understand what the word plurality meant.
I haven't seen the original Newsweek polling data, but I wonder if they asked whether the respondent would like to see Bush reelected over Candidate X, like "Would you prefer to see Bush elected over Howard Dean?" I wonder how he would make out in head-to-head contests against specific candidates, rather than in a general question about re-election.
You ought to see how the leftie blogs are gloating over this, it's quite funny. [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]

Blog-O-Mite!. Ith pointed out that Jimmie J.J. Walker has a blog. Great reading! The man has a lot of sense and writes pretty well. No post permalinks, but hey. Worth checking out. He says exactly what I would say about slavery reparations were I to write on the topic. [Jay Solo's Verbosity]
Jimmie comes to Fresno a lot so I think I'll check him out next time. So hard to find a Black Comedian who does nothing but one Whitey joke after another. I see he even ranked Fresno right with Las Vegas in one category. Get some permalinks Jimmie! (LP)

Columbia. There is quite an intense, detailed Washington Post article on exactly what happened with Columbia, anticipating the pending release of the official report. I just read it and found it gripping, in a sad and pathetic sort of way. [Jay Solo's Verbosity]

Sendmail Culpable?. Kevin has a great discussion, with some spirited comments, regarding the role of Sendmail on Unix in propogation of SoBig and other e-mail borne viruses. [Jay Solo's Verbosity]
Been waiting for someone to say this since the latest round of mail problems started. If I said it no one would see it so I kept waiting for one of the biggies to say it. I thought it was not going to happen but here it is. Its so easy now to just point at Uncle Bill every time your sink clogs up! (LP)

Mars in 186 Seconds. On Wednesday August 27th, skywatchers the world over will have a special treat. The planet Mars will be a mere 34.6 million miles (55.7 million kilometers) from Earth. This astronomical stones-throw represents the closest Mars has been to Earth in nearly 60,000 years, and the best chance for a really good look at a planet that has tempted humanity since ancient times. Toxic topic Schwarzenegger -- and others -- shouldn't shy away from Prop. 13. (Fresno Bee)
Memo to: Arnold Schwarzenegger Subject: Not so fast, Big Fella! Judging from how quickly you backed away from the topic once it had been raised by Warren Buffett, it seems safe to say that you're not going anywhere near Proposition 13 in your campaign. That will surely please the talking heads and the true-believer tax cutters, for whom California's property tax limit is politically sacred.
Go for it Arnie. If you can't commit political suicide by opening your mouth or being a liberal in sheeps clothing, suggesting that all Californians pay their fair share in property tax will surely get the job done! (LP)

Arnie - Terminated! (Fresno Bee)
Bustamante holds wide lead over all candidates.
