Politically incorrect observations about Mac OS X and Windows. A few minutes ago, I had to hard-reset the TiBook I'm typing on. This happens at least once every week or two. Some of these events have been seemingly random, others I can almost -- but not quite -- reliably reproduce. One happens (very rarely, just once or twice ever) when the machine fails to wake from sleep. The other happens (much more often, but by no means always) when, after switching Wi-Fi networks, I connect to my Windows network. Meanwhile, my workhorse desktop machine running Windows XP has yet to bluescreen. ... [Jon's Radio]
WOW! An honest columnist. If you listen to the MAC and Linux biased tech media you would think all Windows users have blue screens every ten seconds. I thought I was the only person who never had one. (LP)

Socialism, California Style. Cruz Bustamante's plan to repair California's economy? "I'm going to drive away even more businesses!"
Running as the Democratic alternative in case Gov. Gray Davis is voted out of office, Bustamante has developed a continuing theme: Big business needs to do more to help the state. He has proposed higher corporate taxes and more regulation of... [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]

MORE EVIDENCE that reporting from Baghdad is, um, excessively negative: BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- I have been shocked at the difference between the Baghdad I found on my return and all the bad news from the city. Despite the recent bombings, Baghdad looks dramatically different. The stores are... [Instapundit.com]
The author, Ken Joseph, has written about Baghdad before -- he's the "human shield" who left when he realized what Saddam's regime was all about.

Finally A Major-Brand Desktop With Linux, Not Windows [Slashdot]
This is so funny I had to stop sticking pins in my Penguin for a minute. I can just see all those poor unsuspecting first time computer users getting their shiny new HP home expecting to see what they have seen on their friends gaming machine. Can't wait to pop in that Doom CD. Of course nothing neat happens like it does on the friends machine so they decide maybe they better read the book. Instead there are a couple of disks with the name of a duck on them. Hope they don't notice its a French company. (LP)

Another political mastermind speaks. Johnny Depp Likens U.S. to 'Dumb Puppy' American actor Johnny Depp (search) likened his native country to a "dumb puppy that has big teeth" in an interview published Wednesday, ridiculing Washington's confrontation with France, where he lives, over the war in Iraq. The Mind of a Terrorist. Yasser Arafat has spoken out on recent developments, the Arab press is reporting.
Recent Israeli military strikes against Palestinian activists have killed the U.S.-backed Mideast road map to peace, Palestinian president Yasser Arafat told CNN on Tuesday. Note the use of the phrase "Palestinian activists" in place of the more accurate and appropriate "Islamofascist terrorist." Also note the conspicuous failure to mention the attacks against Israeli civilians that prompted the Israeli attacks against Hamas. [Right-Thinking from the Left Coast]
