This just in from "It's the end of the World!" Department.

Vaccines and Shortages.

In the movie Sneakers one of the characters describes how to make a healthy bank insolvent -- you start a rumor that the bank is going insolvent, which causes investors to pull their money out, thus actually making the bank insolvent. Well, virtually the same thing is happening right now in the United States, and it's been fueled by mass hysteria in the media. I'm talking about the...

"If I were to take a live, armed weapon and carry it on my person, in public, it would eat away at my sanity just as if it were emitting lethal radiation. To know that I carried an instrument of sure and certain death on my person, available and ready to be pulled out and used at a moment's notice to possibly kill...a child. A homeless person. An innocent."

WHERE HAVE ALL THE POWERS GONE?.

I don't know where I stand on religion. And I'd be more than willing to bet that most of you really don't either. I mean, how can you possibly know if there's a God? Where is he? It's not like... [DiscountBlogger]

This really sucks.  It's as if some bloggers out there know what I'm thinking all the time.  I think about writing something and BAM! there it is on another blog.  Wish I knew how to write so I could just let it flow through my fingers as I'm thinging about it.  Instead I put it off for weeks trying to figure out what to say and things like this happen.  I know - it's my fault for sleeping through school and ending up with the Animal House crowd when I got to college.  I'm not a liberal so I don't blame others for my mistakes but it still frosts my ass.  Oh well - you might as well read this since I was going to say it anyway.

Just kidding ---- good stuff Michael.  Captain Poopdeck

Giving Aid and Comfort to the Enemy!

"The troops were less than enthused to hear the Senator from New York tell them that there remained serious questions about why they were deployed to risk their lives. Many of them were visibly offended by the comments, which they interpreted as being insubordinate. Public officials in a war zone have a duty to support the troops and national policy. Can you imagine a US Senator visiting US troops in France during WWII telling them that we might not beat Germany, or that there were serious questions about why we were fighting Hitler?"

What's the Real Environmental Story Here?.

So here's the deal. In another thread, a regular contributor wrote this: "He (Bush) dismantled the effectiveness of the EPA, and continues to favor business over the environment at every turn." Well, it kind of got my partisan dander up.... [t a c i t u s]

Underwhelming Irony.

"The Carter administration, if anyone cares to remember, helped launch the Islamofascist movement by undermining the Shah of Iran, which allowed the Ayatollah Khomeini to stage a coup that put radical Islamists in charge of Teheran. Later in the same year, this group of "experts" sat around and did nothing but talk when the Iranians committed an act of war and sacked our embassy, holding 53 Americans hostage for 444 days. Until the Taliban took over Afghanistan, the Iranians were the largest sponsor of Islamic terrorism -- in fact, they still probably are. And thanks to the inaction by the Carter administration, it demonstrated the unwillingness of the US to take any kind of action against terrorists or their sponsors, a lesson which we reinforced for 22 years by listening to this kind of advice, until it finally resulted in 3,000 Americans being slaughtered on our own soil."

I can understand the thinking behind this bullshit rule, but that doesn't mean it's not a bullshit rule anyway. Our... [Gut Rumbles]

It's not really a stupid rule.  There is a lot of history behind having it.  It is very seldom inforced.  Just to bad the rule has to exist because of bad things that have happened in the past. Captain Poopdeck
