Fourteen-year-old son Jackson wanted to go see Fahrenheit 9/11 because he is getting more and more socially conscious and he also wanted to be IM conversant with many of his friends who had already taken it in.
We took a chance and stopped by the theatre at 4:30 for the 4:40 showing and were surprised we were able to go right in. The sold-out log jam seems to have been relieved due to the fact that three Greensboro venues are screening the film. Even still, it was packed.
We thoroughly enjoyed the movie but I agree with Ed Cone's take on it in yesterday's N&R when he described Moore's latest work as, "...a fact based movie with an agenda." Jack had the good sense to note that he wishes there was another movie like it that gave another side of the story.
I don't have much else to add to the cacaphony on the subject, except this...
Jack and I exited the theatre behind a neighbor of ours whom we have not seen much of lately because he recently returned from his second stint in Iraq with his Marine unit.
Chris was accompanied by two other neighbors and I could tell he was in a tizzy over the movie because even though I couldn't hear exactly what he was saying to them, he was quite animated. I waited until we reached the lobby before breaking in.
"Wha'dja think Chris?", I asked after we said our hello's, fully expecting him to say something disparaging about either Moore or the movie. "I'll tell you this", he said getting animated again, "I'm still proud to serve, even under that little son-of-a-bitch."
