The cats ran wild

skeins of yarn rampant,

twisted across tiles –

So much feral havoc

they missed the mice

nibbling in the attic.

 

I tracked each thread

down, dread distracted

to the tangled pile:

an unfinished undertaking

taken apart, set back weeks

while you were gone.

 

Now: Take this string,

tie it to your finger –

I’ll retrace your steps,

sing a familiar song

all the while winding

back time.

The check's in the mail

Just a short note to say the client informed me that they've straightened out the situation with my invoice and payment's on the way, plus apologies, plus assurances that steps were taken to avoid this in the future. That and a promise of a new PO# for this quarter - which is a good thing because I've been working on something for them for a few weeks now, including a long phone interview to France this morning (wonder how much that'll cost). I guess I should have asked, but I didn't know the old PO# expired June 30. Would have been nice if the guy I'm doing the work for would have checked on that, but I guess they forget about these things, too. That's the trouble with big companies and all the bureaucracy.

I've been out straight with the new project, plus this interview I'll have to transcribe and write up. Phone discussion later this afternoon on the new project. But now I have to go walk Bibi. I'm looking forward to that - not a bad little gig, dog walking. Get my exercise and some pocket change, too.

Hope to get some blogging in this weekend.
