No me alegra

I'm feeling anything but alegre today. The main culprit, I think, is the Allegra I took this morning for my allergies. It's given me a low-level anxiety attack that's exacerbating the discontent I've been feeling anyway. I don't like the trade-off: feel lousy with allergies or lousy with allergy meds. Unfortunately, it's the 24-hour variety of Allegra so I'm stuck with it for the duration. Usually if I get desperate for relief, I take a half of a 4-hour chlorpheniramine maleate tablet and just deal with a bit of drowsiness for a period of time. I hate that drug companies push these 24-hour pills that you can't dose-regulate for yourself.

I'll be skipping the Allegra tomorrow. My hay fever hasn't been terrible, but it was somewhat irritating and making me tired. Back to trying the stinging nettle and avoiding dairy and all that alternative stuff, with an occasional 4-hour antihistamine.

Today's cure: retail therapy. :-)

As for this Labor Day Weekend, I'm off to dog-sit again at the lovely 226-year-old house of my friends'. I may do some kayaking or hiking on Saturday; the rest is up in the pollen-laden air. I wish you all a wonderful weekend - doing things you love, with people you love, all weekend long.
