Por fin, we arrive at the end of Mariana de la Noche tonight. The villains are falling one by one and our hero and heroine are together and nearly, but not quite, out of danger. I assume a wedding will close out the show, if not more than one. My housemate, K, and I are going to open champagne (it's an excuse to open one of the two bottles that have been in my frig for almost two years, guests having brought their own, better champagne to my New Year's Eve mini-gathering). The next one we'll watch is a big costume drama with Fernando Colunga, but I believe that won't start for a few weeks yet. It'll be nice to have a break. Maybe I'll substitute something a bit more refined for my Spanish practice, back to the Neruda collection I already have or perhaps I could get Jorge Teillier poems, as Dave is recommending. I also have a copy of Como agua para chocolate that a very nice Argentine gentleman gave me last year and that I only got partway through. So much to read. And, ojala, my Monday mornings sipping maté and practicing speaking with mis amigas from Argentina will resume soon, maybe this coming Monday. We'll see.
