In my vacum cleaner approach to gathering news about the Senate campaign, I come across many features on newspapers' websites that I normally would never have come across. One example of this is Michele Jones' Election 2004 Weblog for Tampa Bay Online (which is affiliated with the Tampa Tribune). She's been highlighting various political sites and giving tips for people looking for political news. When I came across the site, I read through the entries, keeping an eye out for a mention of that outstanding collaborative weblog Red State. After seeing that it hadn't been noted, I tipped her to it, as she mentions in today's entry along with her comments about the blog. Her whole weblog is worth a read, as she points out some stuff that I hadn't seen or heard of before. Jackpotzrebie, Politics comment []5:17:55 PM   ![]() |
You know it's a quiet news day in Florida's U.S. Senate race when the only story written about it is the day old news of Karen Saull's departure. The politics sections of Florida's newspapers were instead full of the news of the anti-Bush "Vote for Change" concert tour that has stops in Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa, and Miami. The other story garnering coverage state-wide was that the Republican Party of Florida is not releasing a complete list of delegates to the Republican Convention due to privacy concerns. People who want the media to know who they are may request for the RPOF to release their name, but otherwise the names are being withheld. Incredibly, ABC's The Note, made no mention of the Democratic candidate's debate in yesterday's edition. Today, however, they managed to Note the exit of Karen Saull. I wrote an e-mail to them on the matter, and I've been assured that they will Note the Republican debate on Tuesday the 10th. They had better, as I'll be keeping an eye on it. LATER: I missed this St Petersburg Times article, which further demonstrates how slow of a news day it was.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those who just can't read enough about the race, my article on the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate is up on Red State. Enjoy. Florida Senate Campaign, Politics comment []4:05:53 PM   ![]() |
