This afternoon, the Peter Deutsch campaign is releasing a new television ad whose topic is the 2000 election. Featuring Representative Alcee Hastings, and Michael Moore, it contains a clip of Deutsch on the House floor on the day the results were certified. It appears that the clips of Michael Moore speaking, with Deutsch at his side are from the Democratic convention, where Moore had a press availability session with Representatives Deutsch, Hastings, and Corrine Brown (see July 28 and 29 Senate campaign news entries for details) Election (Peter Deutsch for Senate, Windows media) Text of Peter Deutsch for Senate tv ad released August 13 Florida Senate Campaign, Politics comment []12:32:23 PM   ![]() |
Hurricane Charley is set to make landfall on the west coast of Florida this afternoon. Politics takes a back seat to a category three hurricane. Democratic candidates Betty Castor, Peter Deutsch, and Alex Penelas signed the pledge to not attack each other before the primary. Deutsch had a little something to add to the pledge: "Nothing herein would prohibit candidates raising legitimate
differences with the votes, issue positions or judgments made by the
other candidates,"

In news I forgot to mention yesterday, Howard Dean endorsed Betty Castor and had her has one of his "Dean Dozen" (candidates recommended in e-mails to Dean For America members) Betty Castor for
United States Senate from Florida. In addition to being
the best of the Democratic candidates in the primary, Betty is also the
target of some horrible "independent expenditure" campaigns (much like
Howard Dean was the victim of such low-ball tactics during the Iowa
caucuses). Her campaign is bringing the people of Florida together, but
she needs national support to keep the seat Democratic. www.bettynet.com The sixth Dean Dozen (Oak Cliff for Dean) Dr. Dean praises Castor's healthy families plan (Betty Castor for U.S. Senate) Florida Senate Campaign, Politics comment []10:29:24 AM   ![]() |
