AN ALTERNATIVE OLYMPIC VIEW

Danish photojournalist Joachim Ladefoged has a stunning Web site and there you'll find three portfolios of photographs that show new and different views of the just completed Olympics.

Ladefoged uses a full array of techniques &mdash and breaks plenty of "rules" &mdash to provide a view of the Games far different from the standard fare of sports photojournalism.

The first of the three portfolios is all black and white. The second two, both in colour, show many of the same images, offering a great study of the difference in emphasis, impact and storytelling between colour and black and white. (Broadbend connection recommended)

WINDING DOWN SUMMER

Photographer Will Yurman has a perfectly timed look at the fading days of summer, Last Days, Last Rays, at the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Web site.

Yurman's audio slide show (click on the "Photo Gallery" link), combines audio from days at Ontario Beach Park with photos that cover a range of activities, from proms to quiet contemplation of the sun going down on summer.
