WITH SOME FEAR...

Reporting without fear or favour? Not, apparently, CBS's 60 Minutes. First, the show shot itself in both feet by allowing itself to be taken in by bogus Bush National Guard memos. Because of the pummeling they took, they've now pulled a report (originally bumped by the memo story) that would have examined some of the faulty (and faked) intelligence that the Bush admin. used to justify the attack on Iraq.

The reason? It would be "inappropriate" to air the report so close to the U.S. presidential election, according to CBS.

Way to uphold the tenets of a free and engaged press, guys.

UPDATE: From J.D. Lasica:

If true, this is an incredible lack of judgment as well as an act of moral cowardice. Can you think of a more irresponsible position than to say that your news organization has information about the reasons the U.S. went to war in Iraq but refuses to air it because it may affect the general election?
