Superstition
Chinese are very superstitious. An example is today's Shanghai Daily frontpage: Soothsayers say that the new Year of the Rooster will not bring any disasters like the tsunami this year, but beware of earthquakes and typhoons, especially in the east. Furhermore: in the new year of the Chinese lunar cycle lust will rise (???). It's not a very good year for marriage, but if you choose a good day it will be OK anyway.
