Lantern festival Today is the last day of the Spring Festival, the so-called Lantern Festival. I forgot about it, but was reminded at midnight last night when suddenly all around my apartment building fireworks were lit. It continued for about half an hour, but started again early this morning when the sun came up. Needless to say I did not have a very good sleep! Normally families gather on the evening of the festival to eat yuanxiao (sticky rice balls). These yuanxiao are quite nice, and  I like to eat them once a year. Tonight I will be in South China, and I hope my hotel will serve them. 12:25:46 PM    comment []
