Nosce te ipsum

What a week! First Brent's company is purchased and then while checking Scripting News this evening only to discover yet another purchase. Dave wrote a nice insiders view about how the whole thing went down. (Sorry, the permalink is not yet up so just look for 10/06/2005 on that page).

I'm really happy for Dave and if the figure is close to what Kottke is reporting, then Dave made out just fine. As a fellow programmer (not that I consider myself in the same class as Dave's programming abilities for a minute), I was starting to feel bad for him watching all of the recent purchases and acquisitions that were for companies that were profiting off of his innovations (RSS) that he was kind enough to give way to the world for free. In addition, having watched Dave and Adam come together to create podcasting and all that has evolved into (and Adam's recent VC funding of > $8 Mil) but alas, the universe has righted itself by compensating the folks who truly deserve it.

Today Robert X. Cringely posted episode Episode #5 of his new show, NerdTV featuring Tim O'Reilly.

This show is quickly becoming one of the preeminent IPTV shows on the web today and although only at episode #5, it is already showing signs of greatness and this weeks episode is no exception.

I'm also really looking forward to next weeks episode (which I take some pride in helping arrange) featuring Dave Winer.
