A Mac Developer Sold Out!
This is a really great 'inside baseball' piece from John Gruber at Daring Fireball about some of the economics of being a small indie Mac developer, namely on like Brent Simmons at Ranchero Software and what it takes to be successful in that business and the economics of why one of the most successful solo developers on the Mac platform sold out.

A Tale of Two Titles or How Microsoft Rose to a Level of Mediocrity
mslinux.jpg At last year's Apple World Wide Developers Convention in San Francisco a developer from Microsoft's sometimes loved and sometimes hated Macintosh Business Unit (MBU) stood up and promised that by the same time this year they would have improved the functionality of their Mac e-mail client, Entourage, enough to make it minimally acceptable as a client to MS's own Exchange server platform.

Well, a few months late, they seem to have done just that.

Yes, it may be acceptable. Mediocrity may have been achieved. I'll wait until someone else installs it first, but this version might actually suck less.

p.s. - Great Mac watchers tip - check out this blog on a regular basis. Most interesting!
