Over the last few weeks, I have been receiving emails from my gym. I go to the Merritt Athletic Club on Fort Avenue in Locust Point/Federal Hill. They recently moved to the Foundry on Fort. They used to be located in the nearby shopping plaza until about a year ago.
I try to go four times a week. Apparently, they have a nice
little automated script that runs that checks the amount of times one
has visited the gym in a week. The wonders of databases.
When you meet the threshold of three visits or more, you get this
little gem in your Inbox:

Jason,
You are really dedicated to working out. We are proud of your commitment.
I know this is a form letter, and I am glad my monthly $56 pays for an
electronic Matt Foley. Since they send the message as HTML and I
am geeky, I decided to look at the message source. Behold the
message title: Motivational.
So, I wonder what happens if I decide not to go. Is the title of
the message "Discouraging"? Do I get an email saying something
like:
Fatass Jason,
You are not dedicated to working out. We
are ashamed of your pathetic lack of committment. We will gladly
take your $56/month dues, though.
Have another Big Mac!
Signed,
Your friends at Merritt Athletic Club
Just wondering...
