Yesterday, I went to Opening Day at Camden Yards. Admittedly, I
have officially broken the vow I made in the Winter about not
supporting my home team thanks to the mismanagement of the team.
I am still annoyed by the lack of competitiveness I see with this team
thanks to its ownership.
I have always loved Opening Day. I have seen them both in
Baltimore and Boston. I get to see one in Chicago this weekend at
Wrigley Field. The great thing about Opening Day is that everyone
is at the same mark. There is something about the possibility
that the long baseball season provides to fans. The season begins
with the hope that "This is the year." There is also a great
celebration that comes with Opening Day, and that is one of the most
enjoyable things about it. Like Spring, Opening Day represents a
great awakening from the cold and gray that is Winter. Fans and
the sport emerge from their cocoon to enjoy a new season with new
possibilities.
Anyway, I had a blast yesterday. We were all properly lubricated
prior to the game thanks to many beers drank at the Cross Street
Market. We had decent seats on the 3rd Base side of the upper
deck, and more beer was consumed at the game. During the game,
another blogger type swung by and hung out with us towards the end of
the game.
After the game, we headed back to Federal HIll for some drinks and eats
at Sean Bolan's. Damn, I drank way too much. Sometime
between all the food I drank and beer that was consumed, my stomach was
not a happy camper. I decided to call out sick today from work,
but I am still doing some things remotely. Yay high-speed
Internet!
There were photos from yesterday, and at some point I will post them on Flickr and place a link to them here.

As others have posted,
Saturday was another football game in our Sobo Sports Co-Rec Touch
Football League. Saturday was also the day that it rained, and it
never stopped raining the entire day. We were a muddy mess
following the game, and it took three go-rounds in the washing machine
in order for everything to come clean. The seats in my car were
wet for an entire day. I had mud in places that mud is not meant
to go, and the white socks I wore were disposed of later that
day. They were never going to be white again.
The fun part was we won, and in convincing fashion. Go Team!!!
