Since Fool touched upon it, I thought I would add my bit of deep sleep weirdness to the anals of the Internets.
I tend not to have too many dreams. I am one of those people who
go to bed, sleep, and wake up the next morning ready for whatever is
going to come at me. Monday night was an exception to this,
however.
I woke up during the night at two different points, sometime around
1:30 AM and then at 4:00 AM. What was strange about this was the
content of my dream. I was hearing the Daily Source Code podcast
I had listened to while working out Monday night. The strange
thing, though, was it was like I was there in Adam Curry's
studio. The one thing that kept going through my head: "I just
heard this."
What's up with that?

The second Tuesday of each month, is something known in IT circles as Microsoft Patch Tuesday. Yesterday was one of those days.
The bulletin summarizing this information can be found here.
There are five (5) critical updates and three (3) important
updates. The bottom line here is that if you are running a
Windows-based machine, you need to patch your machine
immediately. I have personally applied these patches to two
machines I use regularly, and I have seen no ill effects.
If you are running Windows XP with SP2, your machine will automatically
check for and install critical patches. Nonetheless, you can
force the issue with Windows XP or any other version of the Windows
operating system.
Just do me and my fellow sysadmins a favor and visit Windows Update
today. Take fifteen minutes, apply all the critical patches, and
then reboot your machine. Thank you, and if you are real good
about this I will buy you a beverage at next week's Blogger Happy Hour. I have ways of knowing who you are. :-)
