Time for another gripe about
traffic. I left my place in Baltimore for my commute to College
Park. I left at about 6:30 this morning, and I was on I-95 by
6:35 AM. I did not pull into the parking lot at the office until
7:21 AM. I love fifty minute commutes!
I was making good timing until I hit a slowdown just after the exit for Rt. 175. The traffic report on
WYPR said nothing about a problem, so I switched over to "Traffic on the 8's"
WTOP.
The last blurb I heard was about my slowdown. Apparently, there
was a semi parked on the shoulder just past Rt. 216. This parked
semi caused a delay of 12 minutes in my commute. When I finally
passed by the semi, there was a tow truck beginning to take the semi
away. Obviously, this was the perfect reason to slow traffic down
on I-95.
The final insult came, though, as I approached campus. I take
University Boulevard--Rt. 193--from Rt. 1 South. This exit
requires that I move over left shortly after I get off the lane.
Of course, I was able to get in the right lane, but getting in the left
lane was impossible today. I was met with some old woman smoking
away in her late model Oldsmobile going too slow and boxing me
in. I already had my turn signal on, but apparently that was too
much for the gentleman in the Navigator behind Ms. Carcinogen. I
had to bail out on Metzerott Road just to take my usual entrance into
campus.
Nothing like being surrounded by friggin' idiots on my Tuesday commute.
