I have been meaning to post this since zenchick made this comment last week.

I have been thinking of getting a nice catchy URL for my blog. Although I have it committed to memory, the default address one gets with Radio Userland kind of sucks. I realize that the catchy URL will merely redirect here, but that is better than spouting off a URL with a bunch of numbers on the end of it. The other reason I am doing this is it appears that every variation of my name has been registered. That's what I get for not buying it up a few years ago.

The name of my blog will not change, though. I will still thumb my nose at Internet anonymity, keeping it as Jason J. Thomas' Weblog.

So, I ask my four humble readers, what should my catchy URL be? Fill up the comments.

UPDATE: After some discussing with zenchick, I have the following options:

  • nattybear.com
    • This is a play on my passion for National Bohemian and my college nickname that is still used, the Bear.
  • mrboh.com
    • Surprisingly, this is available.  It would allow me to play off my affectation for Boh and Baltimore.
  • guinnessisgood.com
    • This one speaks to my love of Guinness, my expenditure of much money and time at Sean Bolan's, and my Irish heritage.  Props to OSP for the late entry.
Either one of those work for me.  All three are good, and the last two are awesome.

As amanda pointed out, jasonjthomas.net is still available.  I think I will use that as a backup domain name from my chosen primary.

Last night, I was cajoled from my usual Tuesday evening antics to join my buddy Shorty to watch the O's-Sox game at Captain Larry's.  Well, I figured it would be a tame evening, so a couple of beers and baseball would be in order.  Also, we wound up meeting a couple of guys who are involved in organizing our co-ed football league. (For those readers on the team, we are making the playoffs).

The game started off alright.  The O's were hitting the ball well, and they had an early lead.  Rodrigo Lopez had pretty good statistics against the Sox, and he was at the bad end of a well-pitched game against this same team last week.  The wheels came off for him in the third and fourth innings.  I was just about ready to finish my beer and concede defeat to my Sox-loving friend.  Nonetheless, we were having good conversation so we stayed.

What then took place was a five-run Red Sox lead that was whittled down to one run by the 8th inning.  I still did not think that they would pull out the win, though.  The O's had runners on, but they had problems bringing those runners home.  The 8th inning changed all of this.  I stood up from the bar stool as I watched Tejada's two-run homer in the give the O's the lead.  I then watched in disbelief as Javy Lopez hit a two-run shot in the same inning.  The O's held on for the win, 11-8, with Ryan saving the game.

I must admit, I was surprised that the O's came back.  Nonetheless, though, I was pretty happy about it.  As my friend said, it's only April.  On one level, I agree with him--I have seen this team play some incredibly pathetic baseball over the last seven seasons.  Thus, I take this stretch of good O's baseball with a grain of salt.  Nonetheless, I will take it since it is the first time I have seen a recent O's team play well.  As I told Shorty last night, it might be April, but I am going to savor this for as much as I can.

Pulling for the sweep, I might have to tune the game in on the Internets at the office.

P.S. My disgust for Sammy Sosa continues to know no bounds.  You only had to be within earshot of me at the bar to realize this, as I cursed him repeatedly.
