Apparently, the local bloggers who have referred to the problems they
have been experiencing with Blogger are not experiencing a local
phenomenon. Wired has picked up on the problem, and they have a nice article about it here.
Apparently, the problem is quite large, and the potential for blowback on Blogger's corporate parent, Google,
could be quite bad. Many folks--bloggers and their readers, in
particular--see blogs as a utility. Much like the power, when one
flicks the switch, the expectation is that the lights come on.
As with anything Internets-related, though, outages will occur. That's the price of progress.

"We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it!"
Such is the dialogue between Jake and Elwood Blues in Blues Brothers.
It's a fitting beginning to my post today, as I leave for Chicago later
this afternoon (granted the distance is more like 697 miles according to Google Maps).
On Friday, I will be at Wrigley Field, taking in Opening Day for the Chicago Cubs. The weather for tomorrow
is supposed to be beautiful, by Chicago standards. Even better,
this is my second trip to Chicago, and my first visit to Wrigley
Field. From what I have been told by my friends, this will be
fun. I have always wanted to visit Wrigley--the ivy on the
outfield walls, the fans, the atmosphere in Wrigleytown.
In my continuing quest to visit all the Major League ballparks, I get
to go to one of the classic beauties. I have been to Fenway Park,
Camden Yards, Dodger Stadium, Anaheim, Jacobs Field in Cleveland, and
the new Phillies ballpark thus far in my quest. It's a good thing
I got a 1 GB flash card for my camera!
As a result of my trip (and the presumed consumption of alcohol), my
posting may be light. Expect an update post on Sunday night or
Monday upon my return.
