Given their recent collapse, I am not terribly surprised by this move. It was actually written about in the Sun yesterday.
I do not think this changes everything, as he is not the only person
blameless in this collapse. Nonetheless, as he is unable to get
his team out of a funk, the on-field commander gets dismissed.
Good luck to Sam Perlozzo. I have always thought he would do well
in this position. He just maybe the closest we can get to the
successful Davey Johnson era.

Now that I am just under three weeks away from my departure, my list of
items to get done has grown quite steadily. I spent yesterday
getting everything together that I would have to do for today. I
started the morning with one task to get done, and that took most of
the morning--patching some servers to ZENworks 6.5 SP1.
I spent the rest of the morning at a meeting, working on this same
task. I, of course, did get pulled into a couple of different
directions. We had a problem concerning notifications, so I had
to address that rather hastily. I have more to do on that for
tomorrow, but I also have some other things that need to get
done. I need to meet with someone about scheduling their upgrade,
assist the boss with imaging the SYS volume of a server, and look into
why a test NetWare 6.5 server lost its SYS volume. Needless to
say, my To-Do list has grown. At least I have it in two
formats--one on my whiteboard and another on my laptop as an OPML
outline. I know, NERD!
I have some early morning stuff to do, and then I have a bunch of other
stuff to keep me busy tomorrow. I do plan, of course, to take off
early tomorrow to burn up some of my personal time that will not carry
over.
