Where has this day gone? Well, before I boogey out of the office,
I will post some blurbs before I leave. It did not help that I
woke up late thanks to my practice of hitting the "Snooze" button and
inadvertently hitting the "Alarm Off" button. She already made fun of me for that one.
- Nice to see the O's actually win a game.
I have pretty much resigned the season, but it will be interesting to
see what happens come the end of the season to the organization.
- I am having a slight problem with the Novell Client for Linux on my SuSE Professional
laptop. That is what I get for updating the kernel this
morning. Damn them for not getting the novfs module into the
kernel yet. I might post a more extensive entry on this
later.
- I was able to fix the problem I had with a broken test server. Apparently, after applying NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 3,
a problem with the actual versus the reported partition size manifested
itself. I remembered that I had read something about it via a TID. Essentially Novell created a tool to address the problem, partfix.nlm.
You can obtain it here. It is primarily for use by Dell or IBM
servers that report this problem. Another way to verify that this
is the problem is to run Portlock Storage Manager on the affected
server. If it reports the same error, go grab yourself a copy of
partfix to correct the problem.
- I am probably going to be forced to open an incident with Novell
Technical Support regarding a problem that has been occurring recently
with our production cluster. We are encountering abends on some
of the nodes in our cluster at the same time that our scheduled backup
process begins. Of course, the problem being with something
involving backups will not make this any easier. Nothing like
receiving text pages at 8 PM for server outages. Fortunately, I
am no longer on-call come 5:00 PM today. ;->
Time to get some other stuff done before leaving the office. I
get a haircut at 4, as my 'do has got a mind of its own. Of
course, the simple fact that I do not have a lot of hair makes that
even funnier.
