The September Baltimore Blogger Happy Hour, as organized by Jennetic and Zenchick, has been announced. The details:
Where: Sláinte, 1700 Thames St, Baltimore, MD 21231
When: Thursday, 29 September 2005 5:00-9:00 PM
Why: Portion of the Proceeds to Benefit the American Red Cross
With the recovery from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it was only
fitting that communities reached out with offers of assistance.
In this modern age, it is only fitting that a part of the digital
community--the Baltimore Blogger community--contribute to the current
recovery efforts. It was only appropriate that the contribution
go to the American Red Cross,
one of the leading charitable organizations spearheading the recovery
effort. And what better way to make a contribution than to gather
together and consume mass quantities of adult beverages! (All
along I thought the only benefit from these happy hours was my
approaching need for a liver transplant, but I digress.)
For those of you who do not know, Sláinte
(pronounced SLAW-ncha) is an Irish term meaning "Good health!" and "Cheers!" On the 29th
of September, bring everyone you know--friends, family, significant
others, or drinking buddies--to raise a pint, cocktail, or what-have-you to benefit
those who need our help in their time of need. The more we drink, the
larger the portion of the proceeds that benefits our fellow citizens. This time, Sláinte has a much more deeper meaning than "Cheers," and we can truly drink to the good health of others.

is there a mark?" --Chris Farley as Tommy Calahan in Tommy Boy
Note to self: When standing outside of your hotel on the boardwalk in
Atlantic City talking to a coworker about various work items, make sure
not to stand on one side too much. The sun has a tendency to tan
your skin, leaving a mark of sorts. That's what I get for shooting the breeze for about 45 minutes, while drinking two *$'s Caramel Macchiatos.
My nerdiness strikes again, as I think I look similar to this guy from an old episode from the original Star Trek series. Behold:
I guess I deserve that for not seeing
much outside the hotel during our two day retreat. I am just not
as burnt, that's all.
