Ahhh, how I forgot about the beauty of Windows file permissions.
This is the time I pine for the more granular file permissions of
NetWare.
Windows Server 2003 uses both Share permissions and NTFS
permissions. The former merely governs permissions to the share
and the latter governs file and folder permissions. I want to
allow my users to only see the folders they have access to within a
given share, but I do not want to to give them access to the folders
that they should not see.
Thus, I want a subset of users to have access to a folder below the
share, but I still want to allow them to map the share as a drive
letter and only see the folder they have rights to. This is not
that complicated in the NetWare world, but Windows is giving me a bear
of a problem today.
Stupid non-granular share and NTFS permissions. Sure, they are better than they were in Windows NT, but not much.

Next week, come partake in adult beverages and assault your liver and
brain cells for a good cause. The Baltimore Blogger Community is
coming together for a Happy Hour whose proceeds will benefit the
victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Where: Sláinte, 1700 Thames St, Baltimore, MD 21231
When: Thursday, 29 September 2005 5:00-9:00 PM
Why: Portion of the Proceeds to Benefit the American Red Cross
Many thanks to our intrepid organizers, Jennetic and Zenchick.
Bring your friends, family, fellow bloggers and non-bloggers
alike. Let's get together and raise many cups of cheer,
simultaneously assaulting our livers and supporting a charitable
cause!
Besides, I think it is high time that I move myself up on the liver transplant waiting list...
