I just poured myself a whiskey. I think this one is over. I'm glad I wasn't at the park tonight. I'm feeling like this is the Giants that I'm used to seeing in the post-season: chokers.

Dave, it's worse than depressing.

I really love watching the Web in real-time. Damn, what's the score again? 8-1? Shit!

McDonalds is in the death spiral and what's amazing to me is the stockmarket is rewarding them. Why do I say they are in a death spiral? Let's look at my experience this weekend. I went to Lake Tahoe. We stopped at several fast food places. Notably McDonalds and In-N-Out. The difference was chilling. In In-N-Out they had 20+ employees working furiously to serve a long line of customers. At the McDonalds they had three employees and no line of customers waiting.

The food told the reason why: In-N-Out's food is simply better. The hamburger tastes like meat and it's a good price ($1.59 for a hamburger). The fries were burning hot and were made from real potatoes (cut right in front of us).

But, behind that is the marketing. In-N-Out focuses on one thing: hamburgers. McDonalds has tried to stretch its brand to include chicken, and other crud.

McDonalds simply doesn't have the best burgers anymore (if they every did) and the competition is starting to kick its ass.

I worry about any company that tries to do too many things. McDonalds? Microsoft? Amazon?

Whew, I got my wireless network setup just in time. Go Giants! Hey, we lead 1-0.

I don't wanna throw bricks cause I live in a glass house, but I gotta say it: Zeldman's current state of redesign is ugly.
