Wow. Elvis Costello, PDP-11's, and Emacs. Patrick Logan and I seem to share a few things.

Dave mentioned earlier that he wanted to pay for and download MP3's. Elvis Costello in particular, as I recall.

I'm having fun with EMusic, which has a very large portion of Elvis Costello's catalog available. EMusic gives you 128k bitrate MP3's, and doesn't restrict what you do with them. I'm paying $14/mo, and have already downloaded enough to make it pay for a year.

Where EMusic starts to break down is with artist availability. There are many artists on EMusic, but not many that are incredibly popular. You can poke around and see what they have without a membership, so you can see if it's a good deal for you.

And Dave, "This Year's Model" is IMHO Elvis' best.

For those of you keeping track, I'm a SlashDot Moderator again.

Perhaps UserLand should tout this as a feature. ";->"

That's 4 times since the release of Radio 8.0.

Seek and ye shall find: According to this page, the pdp-11/03 used the LSI-11 as its CPU. So there you go. Not only are they similar, they are the same.

I was told by my boss today that we developers need to start looking for jobs elsewhere because she doesn't know what's going to happen to our group. Well, maybe not exactly that, but the sentiment was the same. Not worried, there's another group within the bank that has been asking after me. Guess it's time to get serious.

In the meantime, I've been wasting too much time here. I remember reading the Heathkit catalogs and wishing I could get one of the computers. I thought the H8 was cool, and I lusted after an H11, but evidently they didn't catch on. The H11 was a DEC LSI-11 in kit form. I remember enjoying my time playing with a pdp-11/03 at school -- how related are the LSI-11 and the pdp-11?
