Just saw 'In The Bedroom.' I liked it a lot. I'll leave it at that -- go see it.
I found the OPML->HTML code, and now that I have some good test outlines to run it on, I've found a few bugs. This also gives me a good opportunity to test and extend the Python IDE -- every time it pisses me off, I take some time to try and figure out how to make it better. |
Rejection Makes You Dumb. The NewScientist.com has a story about how rejection massively reduces IQ. Now most techies think that wearing a tie reduces the amount of blood flow to the brain but this presents evidence that getting laid off can make you more aggressive and dumber. [kuro5hin.org] I don't know about dumber, but spending the first half of 2001 unemployed certainly affected me in ways that I didn't expect. At the end of 2000 I had started some projects that I was excited about, only to see them stop cold when I was laid off. You'd think with my new-found free time I could make progress like never before, but I found that if I wasn't working on getting a job, I felt like I was wasting my time. Combine that with my first real experiences of screwing up interviews, and I started to have a crisis of confidence. So I don't know if I became more dumb or just felt more dumb, but the effect was the same. 2001 sucked.
It feels really good to be back in the saddle again. |
