Don't you just love hearing things like this?

Okay, that was sarcasm.

The juxtaposition of Eisner's whine and the New York Times throwing its weight behind the idea that the web is boring makes it sound like we the public are being sold the propaganda that media corporations like Disney, who have done such a good job bringing us TV, movies, and theme parks are just the right people to bring excitement back to the Web.

If only we'd cede control of the content to them.

The only problem with their plan is that it is an old plan.  It worked in the past, but only becuase we didn't have the tools we have now.  We can see all of the various pieces of the plan as they are deployed.  We get to read the propaganda that they put out, but we also get to see the legislation that's being pushed, and we get to read those public SEC filings ("we're not making enough money!") that people would rather we didn't see.  So we have the chance to put the pieces together ourselves, rather than merely believing what the pretty people tell us on TV.

Doc's comments about Microsoft are right on, and Eisner's and Nacchio's whining put them right in the same category as Bill.

Enough is enough, folks.  By any reasonable method of measurement, you've won the race.  How much more money and control do you need?  Let somebody else do it for a while.  Let something new develop.
