Wow. Check out the Soviet Moon Rocket. I'd seen pictures of the N1 before, but was never quite aware of the scale of the thing. It's also interesting that some of the remaining engines were sold to an American firm that is building another rocket around them.
Also amazing is that the program survived until 1976! |
Hmmm. I looked at Ruby before, and it seemed to combine some of what I considered to be the worst aspects of Perl (I recognize that many people are very productive with Perl, I just don't want to have to try and read their code). I'll take another look. I'm currently looking at C# and Objective-C, while actively programming in Java, Python and UserTalk. If I was to wish for the perfect environment, it would be Smalltalk with Frontier's ODB integrated as closely with it as it is with UserTalk. I love Smalltalk's syntax and blocks (like Lisp's lambdas), and I love the tight integration of the ODB with UserTalk. I love being able to do such powerful things as simply and as clearly as I can with UserTalk. I love being able to create specialized control structures in Smalltalk. I love Python's simplicity and clarity, especially when compared to Perl's tendancy towards line-noise. I'd like to do more Cocoa programming, but I've got all these other projects going on.
I can't help myself. I'm a programming language junkie. I love
learning new ones and blowing my mind with new ways to look at and solve
problems. Anybody else? |
