Thanks for the Cattle: "This site is inspired by the New York Times article (see "Press" link for other sources) about the Masai village in southern Kenya who donated 14 head of cattle to the US in sorrow over the 9/11 attacks. This is a place where you can say "thanks" to the villagers who made the donation. "  11:32:51 PM  permalink   Add a comment

Dick Gephardt is going to be the Democratic nominee for the president in 2004. Watching him on TV tonight, I realized he's finally figured it out. Rather than attacking Bush and eroding his own popularity, he is openly supporting the president and his policies, with a bit of constructive criticism thrown in.

It's a smart move. While I don't agree with the Dems ideologically, its interesting to see that at least one of them has finally figured out how to play Bush's game.  11:22:21 PM  permalink   Add a comment

A picture named 10oclock.jpgMost visitors to Alaska rave about the midnight sun, but if you asked me, I'd say the best thing about summer up north is the quality of the 10 o'clock light.  10:38:33 PM  permalink   Add a comment

This link points an RSS rendering of my blogroll. What good is that, you ask? I don't know but I bet evil-genius Dave Winer does.  10:35:54 PM  permalink   Add a comment

A memo to anyone sitting by their computer, patiently waiting for my response to your email:

Go outside. Enjoy the sun, or rain, or snow, or whatever it is doing where ever you happen to live. I'll respond some day, but not tonight, because I have, as a result of my extraordinary technological prowess, fuxored that unsinkable email client that you may know an love as Microsoft Entourage Titanic.  9:25:32 PM  permalink   Add a comment

The Sacramento Bee -- sacbee.com -- CHP officers shoot and kill six cows grazing near highway: "Officers tried to find the cattle's owner for three hours before opening fire, said Lt. Dennis Martinez, commander of the California Highway Patrol's southern San Luis Obispo County station."

How unsporting can you get?  6:07:55 PM  permalink   Add a comment
