Again. Didymus Mutasa, ZANU-PF's administrative secretary and senior bureaucrat, recently admitted that whittling down Zimbabwe's population from its current twelve million is his government's explicit plan. "We would be better off," he said, "with only six million people ... who support the liberation struggle. ... We don't want all these extra people." [The New Republic Online]

This sort of behavior is hardly surprising from a government where a prominent politician openly called himself Hitler. The Zimbabwean "Hitler" is dead now, but "Stalin" Mugabe is still running things.

I've seen a couple of different unconfirmed reports on mailing lists that Joe Foss died yesterday. He was a Marine General who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during World War II, but tragically lived to see his country fall prey to the kind of tyranny he'd fought against.
