FasTracks looks to be back on track, according to the Rocky Mountain News [March 6, 2004, "Planners near FasTracks deal"]. The need for an effective mass transit system with respect to our service class has not been part of the discussion. In a creative economy the service class is essential and many need public transportation to get to and from work. This is not easy to quantify.
Mark Udall is looking at the Senate race again now that Ben Nighthorse Campbell has dropped out, according to the Rocky Mountain News [March 6, 2004, "Udall takes hard look at possible Senate run"]. From the article, "His political pedigree is legendary. The Udalls are to the West what the Kennedys have been to the Northeast. Udall's father, Mo Udall, served in Congress for three decades and made an unsuccessful presidential bid. And Udall's cousin, Tom Udall, is a congressman from New Mexico. Udall also must determine whether he can raise the millions necessary to duke it out in a combative open contest for the seat being vacated by Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Udall says he is the Democrat's best potential candidate and is prepared to take on those mentioned as potential Republican candidates: Gov. Bill Owens, State Treasurer Mike Coffman, and U.S. Reps. Scott McInnis and Bob Beauprez."
Peter Blake writes up a little election fantasy in his column in today's Rocky [March 6, 2004, "Blake: 'Mr. Who? Goes to Washington' - A Senate fantasy"].
