Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [March 26, 2004, "Water restrictions studied"].

Denver November 2004 Election
It appears that some supporters of Bob Schaffer are upset that state Republican leaders are shopping for another candidate, according to the Rocky Mountain News [March 26, 2004, "Senate race rancor"].
Update: John Walsh is vowing to oppose Senate Bill 04-194 Quoting the e-mail from the Walsh campaign, "Last week, the Colorado State Senate caught my attention when the Senate Education Committee, on a party line vote, passed Senate Bill1 94 by Sen. Ed Jones-Republican from Colorado Springs. The bill titled the Colorado Civil Rights Act, would outlaw the consideration of race or ethnicity in admissions to public colleges and universities, as well as public sector hiring in Colorado. In my view, the bill doesn't enhance civil rights in Colorado but instead dismantles existing efforts to diversify our workforce and admissions to public colleges and universities. I oppose this bill, because I think it inappropriately hamstrings public sector diversity efforts in Colorado. If elected your District Attorney, I will take an energetic approach to creating diversity and excellence in the DA[base ']s office."
