One Book, One Denver

I finished the book recommended by Mayor Hickenlooper and the Mayor's Office of Art, Culture and Film. The book, Peace Like a River by Leif Enger was the choice of the first annual citywide book initiative, One Book, One Denver.

I enjoyed the story. It's hard to put the book down once it gets going. Outlaws, cops, confused kids, a man at peace with himself, unfair treatment, insanity, winter weather in the northern midwest, cowboy tales, fantasy, miracles, the kindness of strangers, romance. The book has it all.

Westword has the Cliff's notes for Denver area residents too busy to read the book.

Update: Coyote Gulch found the new link for Westword's CliffsNotes.

2004 Presidential Election

John Kerry won the necessary delegates yesterday to cement the Democratic nomination for President. Thanks to the Daily Kos for the link.

The key now will be a unified party effort. It does not look like Howard Dean intends to mount a convention challenge, nor is it looking like John Edwards wants to muck things up.

Update: John Kerry is leading George Bush 48 to 45 in Florida according to a recent RasmussenReports.com poll.

Update: National polls are of dubious value since we count electoral votes in this country. Nonetheless President Bush is back in the lead 46 to 44 in a RasmussenReports.com national poll.
