Denver November 2004 Election

A picture named mikemiles.jpgBob Schaffer has jumped into the race for Ben Nighthorse Campbell's U.S. Senate seat, according to the Denver Post [March 13, 2004, "Schaffer: I'll run; 2 others say no"]. His announcement came on the heels of Scott McInnis and Tom Tancredo declining the opportunity.

What of Mike Miles? He's been running for Campbell's Senate seat for over two years now. The Rocky Mountain News has a short article about Mr. Miles [March 13, 2004, "Underdog role not fazing Miles' bid for U.S. Senate"].

Here's the link to Bob Schaffer from the Political Graveyard.

I haven't found a website yet for either Mr. Schaffer or Ken Salazar. Where are your weblogs gentlemen? I can help you get started. No charge. Don't be afraid to talk to us in your own voice. I suspect that the rush to candidacy after Campbell's announcement has left little time to organize their online efforts so far.

The Denver Post has another story here. Here's a link to their Campaign 2004 page.

Area voters will get a chance to extend the reach and the term of the Scientific and Cultural District this November. Here's a link to an article about metro area mayoral support for the district from the Denver Post [March 12, 2004, "Metro mayors urge renewal of cultural, scientific tax"].

Doc Searls - Broadcast Decency Enforcement Act

Doc is not happy with the house vote to raise fines on the broadcast media this week. According to Doc, "If Howard gets fired because he's too expensive for stations to hire, or because people don't listen, or because he can't sell advertising, fine. But if he gets fired because stations are afraid they'll get fined just for running his show, that's a dead canary in the coal mine."

2004 Presidential Election

Blogs for Bush thinks that John Kerry's candidacy has ended any chance the Democratic party had to win in November's election. Says BfB, "Heads firmly in the sand, indignation over the President firmly in place, the Democrats march to their appointed Doom."

John Kerry has answered President Bush's first attack ad with his own. You can see the ad from his website. The campaign is running it in Real Media in addition to .wmp. That shows an inclusive attitude.

Update: Taegan Goddard: "Sen. John Kerry 'locked up the Democratic presidential nomination Saturday, reaching the magic number of delegates needed to become President Bush's chief rival in the general election,' according to an Associated Press tally."
