Bolton
Stygius: "praktike links to a Seymour Hersh piece on the Bush Administration's erosion of the intelligence process prior to Iraq. John Bolton's behavior was emblematic of the larger problem of politicizing information."

Referendum C
Bob Ewegen blasts Dick Armey (and John Andrews) over their views on TABOR and Referendum C/D in his column in today's Denver Post [May 28, 2005, "Taking the toxin out of TABOR"]. He writes, "Don't you love it when Washington politicians - whose knowledge of Colorado is limited to thinking that we look sort of square on a map - tell us how to run our state? The latest Beltway Boy to tell us ignorant provincials how to think is former House Majority Leader Dick Armey of Texas. He co-authored a piece in the May 20 Denver Post demanding that we not touch a Taxpayer's Bill of Rights that he knows is so flawed that its most toxic provisions have been removed from a version he's trying to peddle to other states. Beltway Dick and his local acolyte, John Andrews, claimed TABOR 'has protected taxpayers by requiring voter approval for tax hikes - and by allowing government to grow no faster than inflation and population. It is being watched and imitated by tax reformers in other states.'"

Deal for Blue River
Rocky Mountain News: "The Colorado Water Trust has finalized a deal that will help keep more water in Summit County's scenic Blue River and, in a new twist, provide additional water for Western Slope communities. The transaction - the first of its kind in Colorado - means that water will be kept in a stream for environmental purposes and then used later for people." [May 28, 2005, "Water deal will benefit nature, people"].

Golden won a lawsuit brought against them by Westminster, Arvada, Northglenn, Thornton, Farmers' Highline and Canal Co., the Church Ditch Co., and Farmers Reservoir and Irrigation Co., according to the Denver Post [May 28, 2005, "Golden affirmed winner in water-rights case"]. From the article, "The case sought to limit Golden's water supply by claiming there were limitations on Golden's senior water rights on Clear Creek."

Here's an article from the Denver Post with some hints for using less water in gardens, [May 28, 2005, "Irrigation wisdom from the ancients"]. From the article, "The newest techniques for conserving water in the garden are actually more than a thousand years old."
